What’s Going on in the Plant-Based World – Week of 12/20/20

  • The Guardian wants to know what *your* favorite vegan recipes are. The UK-based media outlet is gearing up to make recommendations for Veganuary, projected to have the highest participation rate ever in the movement’s history. Read more.
  • Plant Based News’ last installment in the popular “Vegan” film series has been released. Vegan 2020 is now available on YouTube, and garnered over 50,000 views in just the first few hours. The documentary tracks the rise and challenges faced by vegan and plant-based movements throughout 2020.  Read more.
  • An interview with Slutty Vegan’s founder Pinky Cole. The Altanta-based restaurant is one of the few food businesses that has actually added locations during the pandemic. Cole opened the flagship location in 2018 when she couldn’t find good vegan fast food, and decided to create her own.  Read more.
  • Vegan superstar chef Chloe Coscarelli has prevailed in her 4-year legal battle to regain 50% ownership over fast-casual vegan chain by CHLOE, which she co-founded in 2015. Shortly after the first location opened in NYC, however, Coscarelli’s business partner ESquared terminated her from the brand. She is now exploring new partnerships. Read more.
