  • For all VSSJ potlucks:  Each individual in your party (with the exception of children under 12) brings a vegetarian* dish to share that will feed at least 6 people (vegan** dishes preferred so that all types of vegetarians may enjoy the food), along with the recipe or a list of ingredients.  Please bring your own plate, cup, and utensils if possible (we will have extra place settings) to promote recycling.
    Beverages are provided.
    *   Vegetarian = No Meat, Fish, or Gelatin.
    **  Vegan = No Meat, Fish, Dairy, Eggs, Gelatin, or Honey.

Wegmans, Manalapan.
Come meet and greet the Manalapan Wegmans chefs.  Learn what the chefs are doing to provide vegetarian options.  Sample dishes from a 3-course vegetarian meal while Chef Sarah and her culinary team describe each dish.  Vegan options will be provided.  Wegmans will provide a bag of goodies for attendees to take home (recyclable bag, of course).  This event is FREE, but Wegmans requires an RSVP by 5/16.
Note:  Wegmans is piloting vegetarian prepared food offerings at its Manalapan location.  If successful, they may roll this out to other locations.  This is a great opportunity to influence a major supermarket chain on how they serve the vegetarian and vegan community.  This initial focus group is limited to CJVG and VSSJ members.

CARE's VeggieFest

CARE's (Compassion for Animals Respect for the Environment) annual event.
Enjoy great vegan food, door prizes, and the opportunity to listen to special guest speaker Harold Brown (a former beef farmer and founder of FarmKind, and a subject of the documentary film Peaceable Kingdom:  The Journey Home.
The vegan offerings at VeggieFest will include many garden-fresh vegetables including the portobello mushrooms for which Chester County is famous, along with kebabs, veggieburgers with rolls, Marian's potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, watermelon, and a selection of foods from our local vegan restaurants SuTao and Singapore.  Door prizes, a book sale, green products and advocacy exhibits - all with a refreshing joyful theme, completely suitable and appealing for the whole family.
Taking public transportation or carpooling to this event is encouraged.

Join Public Eye:  Artists for Animals and The Parkway Central Library Children's Department for our hands-on program, "Stories from the Wild," with storytelling, art projects, and creative movement.  The featured book, "Lightfoot the Deer," written by naturalist & author Thornton W. Burgess and told by storyteller Loretta-Lucy Miller, is an exciting tale about a courageous deer who survives hunting season with the help of both human and animal friends.  Artist Zipora Schulz and dancer Lara Vracarich lead the hands-on activities.  This Public Eye: Artists for Animals' Kids Club event is free and open to the public.     Description:  Based on my TV show, radio show and new cookbook, I speak on how to cook delicious vegan meals when serving non-vegetarian family and friends by focusing on traditional American style foods such as:  Lasagna, Meatless-Loaf, Stuffed Peppers, Chocolate Desserts and more.  I talk about the basics of vegan meal planning for daily, weekend and party menus, from an elegant first course to rich desserts!  A fun and lively lecture that entertains and educates.  It's Jazzy-licious!
    She will also do a book signing.
